I-164 in Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties Soon to be Renamed I-69
Change is often something that people are resistant to. I’m one of those people who likes routine and familiar things, so I must admit that I’m often one of those “resistant” persons. But I doubt that many folks will have a problem with the renaming of I-164 to I-69. It actually will signal to interested parties across the nation that, yes, Southern Indiana is finally “connected” to the rest of the state and, for that matter, the rest of the country.
Signs will begin to be updated by the Indiana Department of Transportation, but it will happen relatively slowly to give us all time to adjust to the renaming. The name change itself is still pending, but it’s going to happen. The question that remains is, “How long will it take all of us to think and actually say, ‘I-69′ instead of ‘I-164?’” After all, how long did it take us to get used to saying the “Lloyd Expressway” instead of “Division” (Street)?
