Holiday World Moves Forward To Reopen Kentucky Kingdom

Keep your fingers crossed because if all goes according to plan, Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville could reopen in 2013 with the owners of Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari running it!
Members of the Koch family have formed Bluegrass Boardwalk, Inc., “for the purpose of negotiating a lease agreement with the Kentucky State Fair Board, secure financing and apply for economic incentives from the Commonwealth of Kentucky”.
Efforts by the original owner and operator of Kentucky Kingdom, Ed Hart, to reopen the park failed last year. He was unable to form a partnership with the state and local government. Kentucky Kingdom shut down in 2010, just one year after its operator, Six Flags, declared bankruptcy.
The Koch family has owned and operated the very successful Holiday World since 1946.
