Evansville Roberts Park Design Concepts on Display This Month
Now that Roberts Stadium is a piece of Evansville history in photographs and memories, if you’re interested in what’s to become of the space formerly occupied by the building, here’s your chance to attend meetings where you can find out.
There will be two open house meetings this month, giving you an opportunity to see preliminary concept designs for the new park. Immediately adjacent to the future Roberts Park sits Swonder Ice Rink, which is the location of the first meeting Tuesday, July 23 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The second meeting will be Wednesday, July 31 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, located at 918 W. Mill Rd.
If you don’t want to or can’t attend either meeting, the designs can be seen after the July 23 meeting on-line on the City of Evansville website. You’ll be able to send your feedback electronically.
Personally, I’m getting excited to see the future of Roberts Park come to life. After all, Roberts Stadium is gone now and there’s no point in the land sitting undeveloped. It’s time to make more Evansville landmark history.
