Annie Jenkins

I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t want to be on the air as a DJ.  I started out in radio right here in Evansville in 1989 (Johnny was my boss then too!) and after 20+ years of working both here and in Nashville, Tennessee, it’s good to be back home! Some little known Annie Jenkins facts: Things I can’t live without: Coffee, my kids, a cat, good music and MY IPHONE 4!!!  I’m also a hopeless chair and car dancer.  (yup, that's probably me you saw shaking her head and waving her arms like a maniac in the car nex

Comedy/Music/ Variety shows like "The Carol Burnett Show" and "The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour" really had an impact on me as a youngster.  I loved to laugh, and be entertained by great musicians and comedians.  Music was always present in our house; whether it be in the form of  '45 records, The Big AM 89 WLS Chicago, or piano and percussion lessons being rehearsed over and over again, often driving my family insane! Those childhood influences resulted in my becoming a musician (piano, drums, vocals) and radio "talent."  I'm so happy to be under a roof that exposes me to great music AND allows me to share the many voices in my head, without having to wear a hospital gown. I grew up in Cincinnati, watching the Reds and Bengals play.  The Big Red Machine, with Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, and Joe Morgan, was so cool in those days!  I began my radio career at my high school radio station, WNSD (Colerain High School).  It occurred to me that being able to play music and talk AND get paid for it was an awesome concept, so I pursued it, eventually ending up in Evansville.  Throughout the 80's and early 90's, I learned the ropes of radio in several different positions on WGBF AM and WKDQ.  Johnny Kincaid and I hooked up at 'KDQ where he took care of mornings and I followed at midday.  My radio hiatus came in spring of '92 when I attended U.S.I.
