“Stella Awards” Demonstrate Proof of Dysfunction in America

I received an e-mail from an acquaintance of mine who also happens to be a WJLT listener.  Within this e-mail were stories of people who were awarded monetary compensation from the American judicial system.  Before I write any more, I would like to begin by saying/writing that I honestly don't know if these stories are true.  However if they are, our judicial system has become as dysfunctional as our American society has.

Americans Increasingly Turning Down Diet Soft Drinks [Poll]

I used to drink Pepsi, regular sugar-filled Pepsi, all the time; from the time I was a young child to my 30's.  Then I became more health conscious and began drinking diet sodas.  In this way I've been a typical American consumer

Radar Can Be Used for More Than Tracking Weather and Speeding Cars

Have you ever been pulled over while driving for speeding?  At one time in our lives, we all may have had the "pleasure" of being tracked with radar by law enforcement.  We're all aware, as well, that radar is used for tracking storms and other weather phenomena.  So how about using it for finding those great big, car and house-swallowing empty spaces called, sinkholes?  Yep.  It's the latest thing coming from (of all places) NASA.

Pigging Out on Pork will Pick Your Pocket

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about why gas prices are going up and how that would be hitting everyone’s wallet.  Now, the cost of men’s favorite meat in the world(!) will be rising, as well.  Ask any man what his favorite meat is, and he’ll most likely answer “pork,” or as I like to refer to it, “piggy meat.”  Sure I love a good steak, but pork and its various forms have a special place on the menu, especially for guys.  Due to a swine virus, prices will be going up for pork. Noooooo!

A Large Solar Flare Could Cause a World Wide Catastrophe

I was sitting at the table Sunday morning, sipping on my coffee, enjoying a few minutes of relaxation, when as I scanned the morning paper, I spotted an article that presented this scenario.  "Oh, great!" I thought.  "This is just what I need to read while I'm trying to relax."  However, as I read I couldn't help but become fascinated at the cataclysmic concept of a solar flare causing the end of civilization.

Taco Bell Begins Breakfast in March to Compete Against McDonald’s

I travel through Boonville twice a day, on the way in to the station and back home.  As you can tell by my picture, the Taco Bell and the McDonald's restaurants are just a stone's throw away from each other.  McDonald's is the place in the morning to grab a quick bite to eat in Boonville.  I know this from the traffic I see there every morning.  Now Taco Bell wants a share of the breakfast dime, not just in Boonville, but everywhere.  In March you'll be able to pull into the Taco Bell parking lot and chow down.

Listen to the Sucking Sound Coming From Your Bank Account as Higher Gas Prices Hit the Tri-State

Here's the bad news...gasoline prices will be going up soon.  Why?  Our demand will stay the same, but supplies will be cut.  Why?  The refineries are approaching the time of the year when they decrease their production of gasoline to perform maintenance and reformulate their gas for summer driving.  You know the old rule of "supply and demand."  If the supply is smaller than the demand, prices rise.  Brace for impact, Tri-State, it's coming and your bank account will be hit.

Goodbye Jay Leno, Hello Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show [Video]

Everywhere you turn, you're reading about it in a magazine or in the newspaper, watching it on television or hearing it on the radio - Jimmy Fallon takes over the Tonight Show today.  Many hate seeing Jay go, while others seem to be ready for the "new guy."  I'm still getting over not seeing Johnny Carson on stage hosting the program, but I believe that Jimmy Fallon may be just the guy for the job.

Presidents’ Day Sales: Here Are Some Deals to Look For

We're supposed to think about and honor this country's former leaders on Presidents' Day, but most of us usually just think about the sales that we can take advantage of.  It's not a priority of mine to go shopping and spend money so I can save money (I never quite understood that...), but I thought that I would give those of you who like to shop to save some info that may give you a shopping advantage.
