Thomas Jackson, or as we know him, Tommy James formed the original members of The Shondells in 1959 when he was just 12 years old.  In 1963 the group recorded Hanky Panky for the first time, which became a #1 hit three years later.  It was on this date in 1969 that Crimson and Clover also hit #1.  Although Tommy James and The Shonells had many hits, Hanky Panky and Crimson and Clover would be the group’s only #1 songs.
