Baby Found In Field After Indiana Tornado Is Only Family Member To Survive [Video]
An infant girl, found clinging to life after a tornado ripped through New Pekin, Indiana, Friday, is the only member of her family to survive the deadly storm.
Angel Babcock, thought to be 14-months old, was with her family in their mobile home Friday as the killer twister descended from the sky. A neighbor told officials he saw the little girl, her parents, and her brother and sister huddled, facedown, in the hallway of their mobile home, praying and holding hands, as the tornado approached. The neighbor had run out of his own home to offer the family a place to hide in his larger double wide trailer, but the tornado picked him up and threw him and the Babcock family into the field close to Old Pekin Road.
The neighbor survived with several broken bones and is being treated at a Louisville, Kentucky, hospital.
The toddler is being treated at Kosair Children’s Hospital, where she remains in critical condition. Her grandparents have been by her side as they wait to see if the child will recover.
The death toll from the tornadoes that hit 9 states Friday has grown to 34.
